The leaves of certain plants always stay clean, because dirt cannot adhere to their finely-structured surfaces. In rain, water simply runs off the leaves and washes off dirt. This function is also known as the “self-cleaning effect”. Schoeller Technologies Transfers this natural fucntion onto textiles through nanotechnology.
NanoSphere® is a textile finish based on nanotechnology. It shows high level of self cleaning, oil and water repellence as well as high abrasion resistance and wash permanence. In textiles with NanoSphere®, nanoparticles build a fine hilly structure on the textile surface. Water and dirt particles lie on the peaks of this structure. The droplets adhere much less to the textile than on conventional textiles and therefore simply run off and any residue can be washed off easily.
On NanoSphere® textiles, water drops run off easily and reliably, even under constant and heavy rainfall.
Oil, dirt and dust do not adhere to the NanoSphere® surface or can be rinsed off with water.
Due to the extremely high level of abrasion resistance, the NanoSphere® protective function is retained even with heavy-duty use, frequent washing or cleaning.
The contact surface of a water drop or a particle of dirt with the textile, and therefore the level of adhesion, is very large. As a result, water or dirt adheres to the textile.
Water drops or particles of dirt lie only on the peaks of the nano particles, and therefore have a smaller contact area. Adhesion is significantly reduced, water runs off, dirt is repelled or can simply be rinsed off.
NanoSphere® is free* from PFOA and PFOS.
This finish only contains bluesign® approved components. Properly applied it allows a production with a minimum impact on people and environment.
